CHRISTIAN PRAYER
Prayers for Encouragement
Everyone experiences discouragement. Prayer gives us a place to bring those feelings honestly before God.
You Don’t Need Perfect Words
People sometimes hesitate to pray because they don’t know what to say. Prayer does not require impressive language.
God, I’m discouraged. Help me see what I cannot see right now.
That is a prayer. So is gratitude. So is asking a question. So is sitting quietly before God when you do not have words.
Encouragement One Day at a Time
When we feel discouraged, our minds often race far ahead of the present moment. Prayer can bring our attention back to what is directly in front of us.
What do I need today? Who can I encourage today? Where do I need wisdom today? What can I thank God for today?
Faith does not require us to know everything about tomorrow before taking today’s next step.
Look for Reminders Around You
Craig Morse developed the idea behind Thoughts for Prayer by connecting prayer with objects that already meant something to him: horse tack. The same principle can work in many areas of life — your morning coffee, your commute, your garden, a walking trail or a favorite chair.
Remember God. Pray. Listen. Continue.
A Prayer for Encouragement
God, meet me in the places where I feel discouraged. Help me recognize the good that is still present, the people You have placed around me and the next step I can take. Give me hope when I cannot see very far ahead and help me encourage others as You encourage me. Amen.
