CHRISTIAN PRAYER

Prayers for Safety and Protection

We cannot control every circumstance. Prayer gives us a way to bring our concerns before God.

Praying When You Are Worried

A prayer for safety does not have to be complicated. Tell God what you are worried about. Name the person. Name the situation. Ask for protection and wisdom.

Then acknowledge the part that is often hardest: there are things outside our control. Prayer helps us move from endlessly rehearsing our fears toward intentionally placing those fears before God.

Safety, Wisdom and Awareness

We can pray for protection while also making wise choices. We buckle a seat belt and pray for a safe trip. We prepare carefully and ask God for guidance. We watch over people entrusted to us while recognizing that ultimately we cannot be everywhere or control everything.

Prayer and responsibility work together.

Familiar Things Can Remind Us to Pray

Craig Morse’s approach to prayer grew from his experiences around horses. Horse tack exists partly to create communication, stability and safety between rider and horse. Craig began using these familiar objects as spiritual reminders during prayer.

You can create similar reminders in your own life. When someone leaves the house, pray. When you hear a siren, pray. When you start the car, pray. When worry wakes you in the night, pray. Turn the trigger for fear into a trigger for prayer.

A Prayer for Safety

God, watch over the people I love and guide us in the decisions we make today. Give us wisdom to recognize danger, patience when plans change and peace when circumstances are outside our control. Help me place my fears before You rather than allowing them to control me. Amen.
