CHRISTIAN PRAYER

Prayers for Strength During Difficult Times

There are moments when our own strength feels insufficient. These are often the moments when prayer becomes especially important.

Turning to God for Strength

Christian prayer for strength isn’t necessarily asking God to remove every difficult circumstance. Sometimes we are asking for the strength to walk through it.

Prayer gives us an opportunity to bring fear, exhaustion, frustration and uncertainty before God instead of carrying everything alone.

God, give me the strength I need for what is in front of me today.

Strength Does Not Always Look Powerful

We often think strength means having everything under control. Faith suggests something different.

Strength can mean continuing when progress feels slow. It can mean asking for help. It can mean forgiving. It can mean waiting. It can mean admitting that we don’t know what comes next while continuing to trust God.

Everyday Reminders to Pray

One of the ideas behind Craig Morse’s Thoughts for Prayer: A Cowboy’s Perspective is that familiar things can become reminders of spiritual truths. For Craig, those reminders came from horses and horse tack. For someone else, it may be something entirely different.

A work tool might remind you to ask God for wisdom. A doorway could remind you to pray before entering a difficult situation. A photograph might remind you to pray for someone you love. The object itself isn’t what matters. The reminder to pray does.

A Prayer for Today

God, when I feel tired or uncertain, help me remember that I do not have to face every challenge through my own strength. Give me wisdom for the decisions in front of me, perseverance for the road ahead and faith to continue trusting You one step at a time. Amen.
